WELCOME TO MY TRAVEL BLOG

I have always enjoyed traveling, even if it meant sleeping in a tent when I was younger. I prefer hotels and cruise cabins now, but the motivation is the same...an adventure waiting to happen. Sometimes you will find me traveling with my husband and/or family. Sometimes I will travel alone, and sometimes I will travel with friends. I hope you find it entertaining to keep up to date with me as I explore the world around me. Warning...I like to take pictures of food so don't read if you're hungry. More adventures await...see ya soon...Amy.

Disney Cupcake Crawl

the cupcake crawl map that intrigued me

The Vanilla Caramel Cupcake from Karamell Kuche...not a favorite. Delicious caramel, but the frosting was really sweet and grainy

Oreo Bonbon and Strawberry Cupcakes from the Boardwalk Bakery. These were divine! The Strawberry was our favorite. These cupcakes are filled cupcakes and the frosting is a whipped cream base. The oreo bonbon is filled with cookies and cream buttercream and the strawberry had frosting inside! They don't transport well which is why I am showing them to you in the case!

The Butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios. This was wonderful. The butterfinger is super crispy on the buttercream frosting and there's fudge filling inside!

my favorite...the Chocolate Peanut Butter from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios

The Red Velvet Cheesecake from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios. Also really yummy with a real chunk on cheesecake on top!

The Marble Cupcake from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios. We didn't really get the point of this cupcake but the flavor was good and it had fudge filling inside too.

The Peanut Butter Cup cupcake from the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom. This also had peanut butter chips inside. This was probably my second favorite!

The S'mores cupcake from The Wilderness Lodge. This one had us swooning with its graham cracker cake, toasted marshmallow frosting and chunks of chocolate inside. Christy was looking for a microwave to warm it up!

The Cotton Top Tamarind cupcake from Kusafiri Bakery in Animal Kingdom. This was good. A dark chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. The cute little chocolate tamarind on top was a totally edible extra. This was an extra to the original "crawl" and we were glad we tried it.

The White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake from Kusafiri Bakery in Animal Kingdom. This was Christy's favorite. And that white chocolate elephant is also edible.

the Zebra cupcake from Kusafiri Bakery in Animal Kingdom. Also good if you like vanilla as it is a vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting.
While researching my trip to Disney with Christy, I came across the Disney food blog and more specifically, the Disney Cupcake Crawl! You can read the blog post here. I wasn't sure Christy would be game, but I sure was!! I was so delighted when she said she would love to take the challenge with me. We ate (greatly sampled) TWELVE cupcakes while we were there. A couple of them were not on the challenge, but we just couldn't help ourselves....haha. The cupcake crawl instructions are for a two day challenge, but we didn't have a park hopper pass and so we had to eat them on our respective park days. That combined with the Disney Dining Plan meant we were never hungry and indeed rather stuffed most days. The Peanut Butter cupcake is no longer available at the Boardwalk and we were supposed to choose 2 so we ate the Oreo Bon bon and the Strawberry Shortcake. We ate 3 cupcakes from Animal Kingdom even though it only required 2 because they were all just so cute!! The Peanut Butter Cup cupcake from Magic Kingdom was a total extra that wasn't on the plan and I am so glad we didn't pass it by! My favorite cupcake of all was the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios and second favorite was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake from Magic Kingdom. Christy gave high marks to the White Chocolate Elephant cupcake from Kusafari in Animal Kingdom and really had a lot of good things to say about the S'Mores cupcake at the Wilderness Lodge. We also both really liked the Strawberry Cupcake from the Boardwalk Resort. Actually we liked a lot of them. Our least favorite was the Caramel Vanilla cupcake from Epcot and probably the Marble cupcake from Starring Rolls in Hollywood Studios. Next time I come, I will already know which ones I want to eat again and only have to try any NEW creations. This really was a blast!!

Nemo show

The location for the delicious cupcakes...hard to spot

The Circle of Life show

a favorite Hidden Mickey on the ground between Africa and Asia

The last part of the parade. Sad we missed this, but there's always next time. At least we got to see Safari Mickey!

BOMA in the Animal Kingdom Lodge

I really liked the sauce on the left on my beef. Christy like the Boma Mustard

Three kinds of Hummus!

Ahhhhh.....the coconut rice. Delicious!!

loved the chicken!

my first of about three plates.

Tried one of everything on the dessert table. My favorite was the cheesecake in the center. Not a big fan of everything else.

The end result of my pin trading. I found almost all of the new perfume bottles and only lacked two cupcakes from completing the set. Christy found the last perfume bottle for me on the last day after I left. I also finished my flower princesses! Pin trading is one of my new favorite things to do there.
We woke up to a beautiful blue sky today which will make Animal Kingdom a lot more fun. We left in time to be at Animal Kingdom when they opened. We went immediately to Kilimanjaro Safari to get a Fast Pass and then ride it. I thought it was interesting that everyone either went left to Safari or right to the other popular ride in the park, Expedition Everest. Since I am not a fan of roller coasters, we skipped that as well as Kali River Rapids. This made our day a little easier as we weren't trying to squeeze all of those popular rides into the plan.  After the Safari, we walked along the Pangeni Forest Exploration Trail and then went to Flights of Wonder. It is one of my favorite things there as I love a bird show. When we went with our children the last time, it started raining and the show was cancelled. We also saw It's Tough to be a Bug which is a 3D movie that can be a little scary. I think Christy and I both squealed when we got poked in the back as a special effect during the movie. We ate lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ and had some of the BEST BBQ that I have had in a long time. We both had the ribs and chicken combo and substituted our beans and coleslaw for carrots and grapes. We also selected chocolate mousse for our dessert and it was pretty good.  They had a wonderful shaded outdoor dining spot along the water behind the building. It made for a very restful and delightful lunch. We went to the Nemo show which was wonderful. I think it was my favorite thing that we did in the park. The puppetry was amazing! We grabbed our last cupcakes from the Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. We planned to eat them at the Lion King show, but they wouldn't let us so we had to eat them pretty quickly before we went in. The Festival of the Lion King show is live action and wonderful music. The performers are very talented and it's still a favorite!  We rode the Safari ride again with Fast Pass and we still had some time before the parade so we went to the Maharajah Jungle Trek. At some point, while we were walking through, we completely lost track of time and when we came out, we discovered that we had completely missed the parade!! This was disappointing as it's one of our favorites, but there will always be a next time. This is definitely not my last trip to Disney. We pin traded our way out of Animal Kingdom over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge where we had an early dinner at Boma. It is a buffet with African influence and it was delicious. I think our favorite thing there was the coconut rice and i really liked the chicken and beef. Neither of us liked the desserts very much and I tried every one. This trip has been so much fun and I have really enjoyed spending the time with my sister in law. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Disney, whenever that may be.
