WELCOME TO MY TRAVEL BLOG

I have always enjoyed traveling, even if it meant sleeping in a tent when I was younger. I prefer hotels and cruise cabins now, but the motivation is the same...an adventure waiting to happen. Sometimes you will find me traveling with my husband and/or family. Sometimes I will travel alone, and sometimes I will travel with friends. I hope you find it entertaining to keep up to date with me as I explore the world around me. Warning...I like to take pictures of food so don't read if you're hungry. More adventures await...see ya soon...Amy.

Disney March 2014:Day One

My friend Sheron has been talking about taking her twin granddaughters to DisneyWorld for at least the last two years. Her granddaughters are nine this year which is the last year to use a child's ticket at DisneyWorld. I told Sheron that I would go with her to take them and she jumped at the chance to do it during their spring break. We had about a month and a half to plan! I've never planned a Disney trip with that short amount of time, especially during the busy season but we were able to snag some nice places to eat on the dining plan as well as good Fast Pass Plus times. The Fast Pass Plus system replaces the old fast pass system and this is my first time to use it. I still wish we could pull paper fast passes as I really liked being able to ride my favorite ride several times with fast passes and I don't like being limited to only three in a day. We decided to drive which took us a day and a half. Disney had a special deal which let us buy a four day pass and get a fifth day for free. We had only planned to go to three parks, but we were able to squeeze in two more half days on the front and back end of the trip. We arrived at the Coronado Resort (my favorite) a little after 12 p.m. Our room was not ready, but they told us which parking lot to park our car in, that would be close to our room, so we could go ahead and go to a park. We chose Hollywood Studios first because we knew that we could do the things we wanted to do with nine year olds in a short amount of time and we were right. This is where Fast Pass Plus comes in handy. We were able to schedule them all in the afternoon so we didn't miss doing something really fun like Toy Story Mania! We arrived at the park about 2:30 and went straight to the Beauty and the Beast show which we all really enjoyed. After that we went to Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We were right next to the Character Meet and Greet when we exited and we had some time so we stood in line to see Mickey, Minnie, Frozone, Mr. Incredible, Wreck It Ralph and Penelope. The girls had autograph books and were able to get them signed as well as have pictures made with the characters. We then went to Toy Story Mania to use our fast pass plus. This was great as the line was about 80 minutes long. The girls LOVED this ride! We wandered our way around the park peeking in shops and taking in the city atmosphere. We ate supper at the 50's Prime Time cafe. We checked in and went straight to the bathroom. We came out of the bathroom and after waiting about 20 minutes, we asked when they would call us back. They said they had already called us and had to put us back in the rotation! All we did was go to the bathroom and we missed our call! I ate Pot Roast that was tender and amazing and Sheron had a Chicken Caesar Salad. The girls ate macaroni and cheese. For dessert, Sheron had a strawberry sundae and I had cheesecake with raspberry sauce. The cheesecake was not remarkable. Claire had a fruit salad for dessert and Emily was so full that she passed on dessert. We arrived back at the hotel for showers and bedtime. Tomorrow is a full day at Animal Kingdom Park.
